PRIVACY POLICY Effective: July 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Saed Younis, an individual developer operating the Bubbles app ("Bubbles", "we", "us"), collects when you use the Bubbles app and website (the "Service"), how we use and share it, and the rights you have. We act as the data controller for this processing. We are committed to processing your data lawfully, fairly, and transparently, in line with the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws.

  1. WHO CAN USE BUBBLES Bubbles is for people aged 17 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 17. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

  2. DATA WE COLLECT Account & profile data: your email address, alias/username, date of birth (used to verify you are 17+), and any profile details, photos, or bio you choose to add. Content data: messages, photos, voice notes, reactions, and other content you create or share, including the bubbles you create or join. Location data: with your permission, your device location (including precise location) so we can show nearby bubbles and determine whether you are physically inside one. See "Location & Presence" below. Contacts (optional): if you enable contact matching, we process a one-way hashed form of the phone numbers in your address book to find friends already on Bubbles. We do not store your contacts' raw numbers and we never message them. Technical & usage data: device identifiers, app version, a push-notification token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging), log data, and diagnostic information needed to operate and secure the Service.

We do NOT use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell your personal data.

  1. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA • To create and operate your account and provide the Service's features. • To show you nearby bubbles and manage your presence and membership. • To deliver messages, notifications, and the social features you use. • To keep the community safe — reviewing reports, enforcing our Terms and Community Guidelines, and preventing fraud and abuse. • To provide customer support and respond to your requests. • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

  2. LEGAL BASES (GDPR) We rely on: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service); your consent (for location, contact matching, and optional marketing — which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests (to secure the Service, prevent abuse, and improve features), balanced against your rights; and compliance with legal obligations.

  3. LOCATION & PRESENCE Location is central to Bubbles. When you grant permission, we use your device location to show nearby bubbles and to detect whether you are inside one. While you are participating in a bubble, your live presence — and, to the extent needed for the feature, your approximate location — is shared with other participants of that bubble. You control this: turn on Invisible mode in Settings to stop sharing your presence and activity, or disable location for the app in your device settings at any time. Background location detection is used only to keep your bubble membership accurate (for example, to remove you when you leave); you can disable it in your device settings.

  4. HOW WE SHARE DATA With other users: your profile and the content and presence you choose to share are visible to other users as described above. With service providers (processors) who help us run the Service under contract, including cloud hosting, Google Firebase (push notifications and authentication), and Google Maps (map display). They may process data only on our instructions. For legal reasons: to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, safety, and property of Bubbles, our users, or the public. In a business transfer: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

  5. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where we transfer data outside the EEA/UK, we use appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

  6. DATA RETENTION We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we permanently erase or irreversibly anonymize your personal data, except where we must retain limited information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backups are purged on a rolling schedule.

  7. YOUR RIGHTS Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. You can exercise the two most important rights directly in the app at any time: • EXPORT — download a copy of your data (Settings → Account). • DELETE — permanently delete your account and personal data (Settings → Account).   8. SECURITY We use technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, secure credential storage on your device, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and regulators of breaches where required.

  9. PUSH NOTIFICATIONS & MARKETING Notifications and any marketing communications are opt-in and can be changed at any time in Settings or your device settings.

  10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY We may update this Policy from time to time. We will change the "Effective" date and, for material changes, notify you in the app. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
